Today’s the Day We Launch the Site
After many years of dreaming, praying, and waiting, the time has finally come to launch our new Christian clothing company and online store. Seize Eternity is the antithesis of the popular latin phrase, “carpe diem” or seize the day. We believe that God’s word teaches that we are to grab onto eternity in the person of Jesus Christ. First, through the salvation we are offered through His death and resurrection and second, in order to live out His purpose for us here on earth.
King Solomon was a perfect example in the Bible of someone who lived out “carpe diem.” He had everything his flesh desired and found that all was vanity and a grasping for the wind. To live for the here and now, squeezing the most pleasure and earthly satisfaction out of each day is futile.In the end, it will not satisfy and ultimately, it leads to eternal damnation.
We were designed by God for an eternal love relationship with Him. He placed the very questions of our eternity in our hearts. His word is full of references to our purpose, which is to be reconciled to Him through faith in Jesus as the payment for our sins and then to store up treasure for heaven. We are citizens of heaven. We are pilgrims and sojourners on this earth. We are made to dwell in eternity and to invite others to come along.
Phil 3:12-14 really speaks to our eternal upward call. “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
We are to lay hold of or seize that for which Jesus seized us. He grabbed onto us for eternity. How do we do that, we let go of what is behind and reach forward to what is in front of us - fields that are white for harvest.
The urgency of launching our business now is to reach the lost world that is dying under society’s manifesto of “carpe diem.” The true enemy of God in this world is self. Self indulgence, self-centeredness, selfish behaviors and attitudes. God brought this message to the forefront of our lives through trials and we can’t seem to shake it. So we are grabbing onto the message and hoping to spark a movement for God’s kingdom.
