![]() The Seize Eternity Christian Clothing StorySeize Eternity Christian Clothing began as a heavenly kiss on the cheek from God in the midst of a personally trying time. I drove up to a teacher’s training conference in Anaheim at 5:00 a.m. on November 21, 2006. I uttered a simple prayer asking God for one nugget of truth. I knew I would get loads of practical tips, but it was the spiritual wisdom I needed most. God met me in that, and right during the opening general session. “Seize Eternity” was the topic of a story regarding a missions team in another part of the world. It was their manifesto for ministry. The implications of the idea have not left my mind since hearing it. Someone decided they were not satisfied with the world’s view of “carpe diem” or “seize the day.” One day is simply not enough. We are futile in our thoughts and finite in our ability to affect one single day without the eternity promised to us in Christ. And yet, it is the eternal perspective I (and I know I’m not alone) lose sight of so easily. I grew up in church and received the Lord as my personal Savior at a young age. Sometimes eternity can seem so far away. It was that very morning that God kissed me on the cheek with “carpe aeternitatem” or “seize eternity.” I am a pilgrim here. That’s right. Thanks for reminding me, precious Heavenly Father. I am just passing through. This idea is an inspiration – the very breath of God into my life and hopefully into yours as well. The cares of this life and the circumstances we are in can carry us away if we let them. We lose our focus, we lose the proper mindset, and our actions slip, not reflecting our true position in Christ, already seated in heavenly places with Him. My overwhelming response to the presentation I heard that day was, “Yes, Lord, I want to plant my feet in eternity. Where nothing is impossible. Where we fight from victory, not for victory. Where ‘It is finished.’” See, about three years prior to this teacher’s conference God inspired me with a word through my pastor during a typical Sunday sermon. The word was “narrowminded.” God put the thought in my mind that it would be interesting to create a slogan shirt with the idea. A little research revealed that one already existed. However, birthed from that one word has come the intense desire to honor God here on earth through a line of Christian apparel. My husband is an entrepreneur at heart and has years of business experience. So, over the years we began to dream and plan and brainstorm this business God was giving us…this business of sharing the truth with the world AND encouraging the church. During the last few years, we have been restless at times to get this thing going and for many reasons have been hindered to actually starting the business. Through our own trials the Lord has impressed upon us the heart behind Seize Eternity – trusting in God in and for all things – for real, not just saying that we do. He has taken us through some very difficult things and we can honestly say today, “Who better?” to trust our lives to. So, here we are today. A sense of urgency has risen in our hearts. Sitting on the message is no longer an option. It is an issue of faithfulness now. With a burden to share with the world the truth of Seize Eternity and the entrepreneur’s spirit to run a business to support our family and a heart to see souls saved and lives transformed, we present to you Seize Eternity Christian Clothing. Seize Eternity the concept has been discussed in intellectual circles (as seen by the teacher’s conference) and has been kicked around on the internet for some time. It’s time we all grab onto the message and be a part of the movement. We were made for a loving relationship with our eternal God. Once we are saved, our focus, our mindset and our actions should flow from our relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ. It’s not a game. It’s not a show. It’s not something we put on and take off. We are born a second time for an eternal purpose and our lives should be a reflection of that trust. We are in today, holding fast, overcoming to the end, by faith, pressing on toward the upward call, as pilgrims with our sights fixed on heaven fulfilling God’s call here on earth. Lord, forgive me when I lose perspective, vision, and faithfulness. When my eyes are filled with envy and my heart is overwhelmed with doubt. When my circumstances distract me from the reality of You and our eternal home. Thank you, Jesus, that You, our eternal hope, have made a way for us in today. |
